Partial Hospitalization Program

|
The Partial Hospitalization Program provides psychiatric services in a caring, supportive environment specifically designed to meet the mental health needs of patients aged 18 and older. Patients who have been in the hospital may move to Partial Hospitalization when they are ready for less than 24 hours per day care, but continue to need an intensive level of treatment. Partial Hospitalization is also appropriate for individuals who have an immediate psychiatric need and are at risk for hospitalization.
The intensive outpatient treatment provides up to three hours of structured therapy per day, allowing the patient to maintain a work schedule and live at home. This level of care is especially beneficial as an interim step from inpatient or PHP care to home.
The program is offered Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Patients schedules vary from 1-5 days per week depending on their needs. Lunch is provided and transportation is available, depending on where the patient lives.
To reach the Partial Hospital Program Coordinator, call (510)727-2700, ext. 5575.

Inpatient Program

|
The Inpatient Psychiatric Program is an acute, short-term program for adults who need a safe, structured, therapeutic environment 24 hours a day. The 15-bed inpatient unit is a voluntary treatment program with a focus on rapid stabilization in order to allow discharge to a less intensive setting.
The Program is designed to quickly return clients to their optimal level of functioning outside the hospital through the following intensive, supervised treatment components: Multi-disciplinary assessment Individual treatment planning 24-hour nursing and medical support Medication management and education Problem solving and stress management skills development Family education and support Art and recreation therapy Individual and group therapy Placement assistance
Families play an important role in treatment. We encourage family members to share their special knowledge and understanding of the patient and to be a part of treatment planning.
At discharge the patient, family and treatment team develop an appropriate aftercare plan. This may include Partial Hospitalization, medication management, a community based program or outpatient therapy. The goal is to help each individual continue the progress that has been made in the hospital.
Admissions are accepted 24 hours a day. Referrals may be made by physicians, mental health professionals, social service agencies, individuals, family members or friends. For more information, or to request a free, confidential assessment at any time, please call (510) 889-5016.
